The aim here is the visualization of the relation between the centre and the regions in the field of applied-arts instruction, arising from the process in which applicants came to Prague to study and then, after graduation, found work in various parts of Bohemia, Moravia, Czechoslovakia, or the entire world. In other words, it will trace the education trajectories of those who studied at UMPRUM across the entire range of its history (1885–present); i.e., from where (which regions and schools) they arrived and where (as instructors, etc.) they then worked. The result will be an interactive specialized map corresponding to the parameters of Nimap (a digital cartographic document in an open GIS environment and certified by the Culture Ministry of the Czech Republic for further public use). The essential data basis is the still-unclassified paper-based card catalogue of all graduates of UMPRUM, to be verified and supplemented from other sources, especially the archives of other institutions. The research outcome assumes the digitalization of all data and its advanced geographic processing with possibilities of interactive classification (per study period, artistic field, type of secondary school, etc.). For the realization, we aim to cooperate with experts from the Department of Geoinformatics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Palacký University in Olomouc and the National Pedagogic Museum. The result of the project is an autonomous digital document – a specialized map that will also be a display item in the exhibition for project no. 6 (planned for 2027), which assumes its coordination with the results of other sections of the research team.
